Orange & Nokia Another Partnership

2 05 2009

Orange PCS and Nokia ESPOO recently announced a joint venture with the Nokia Messaging application. The two companies will soon be touting a co branded email solution to Orange customers in the UK at least for now!

“Orange is the first operator group to announce a European-wide offering of Nokia Messaging to their customers and we are very pleased about this extension to our service collaboration. The agreement on Nokia Messaging will boost the adoption of mobile email service and makes it easy for consumers to activate the service on-device and at Point-of-Sale. We believe that mobile messaging is for everyone, not just for a certain segment of the consumer market. “

Hotmail Gives Us pop3!

18 03 2009

Microsoft recently gave all hotmail users what they wanted, access to a pop3 server! It has been a long time coming but be thankful it’s finally here.  Working in the mobile industry i have been asked many times over the last 6 years “Can you setup hotmail on my phone please!”. Well now it’s a reality instead of disapointment of not being able to use your phones inbuilt mail app to handle the account.

Of course this is a revenue loss for Microsoft as users previously had to pay for the luxury of pop3 with hotmail plus for £15.00 yearly, with GMail and others offering pop3 access for free Microsoft had to reluctantly (no doubt) cave and offer the service for free.

Settings:

POP server: pop3.live.com (Port 995)
POP SSL required? Yes
User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example yourname@hotmail.com
Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
SMTP server: smtp.live.com (Port 25 or 587)
Authentication required? Yes (this matches your POP username and password)
TLS/SSL required? Yes

Next up is a guide on setting up your S60 Nokia with hotmail………………

T-Mobile UK Adds Email Service £3.50 A Month

18 03 2009

T-Mobile UK has launched Instant Email, a mobile e-mail service for £ 3.50 per month. Customers can try the service for free for one month and then move on to a rolling monthly booster (without a long term contract), getting access to up to five accounts on common web mail services such as Google Mail and Hotmail.

Instant Email customers are alerted when new e-mails arrive, with no need to log on to the internet. The service is initially available on select Nokia devices, with more phones expected soon. The monthly fee covers all the e-mails and associated attachments. There are no extra charges if the user exceeds the fair use policy and when going abroad the service becomes an opt-in.

Nokia Email – Beta 3 Mini Report

20 10 2008

I have been using Nokia’s beta email application for just over a week now and thought i’d share some of my experiences.

I have been toying with the idea of getting a blackberry for a while now but, never really got round to making the leap on my last upgrade a few months ago to the N82. I’m glad i never opted for a BB now as nokia email is a joy to use and seems somewhat reliable.
